Neuropsychological rehabilitation of children and adolescents

Neuropsychological rehabilitation for children and adolescents is medical rehabilitation provided by a neuropsychologist. Rehabilitation is usually started on the recommendation of a doctor and a neuropsychologist. The goals and content of neuropsychological rehabilitation are always planned individually based on neuropsychological evaluation. Neuropsychological rehabilitation of children and adolescents is usually carried out by a private healthcare provider. Rehabilitation can be funded by the municipality of residence (with a payment commitment), KELA, the child's guardians or, in some cases, insurance companies.

Using neuropsychological rehabilitation methods can...

  • provide psychological support
  • cooperate with the child's teachers and other near-adults

How to carry out the neuropsychological rehabilitation of children and adolescents?

Neuropsychological rehabilitation of children and adolescents can be carried out as individual rehabilitation or in some cases also as group rehabilitation. Rehabilitation can also be carried out mainly as guidance visits in the child's local network. As part of the rehabilitation, consultations are organized for the planning of educational rehabilitation support services at the child's school or daycare. The total duration of rehabilitation varies, depending on the severity of the problems, from a few months to a few years.
