Neuropsychological rehabilitation
The purpose of neuropsychological rehabilitation is to support everyday live with functional changes caused by brain disease or injury and to alleviate the harm caused by these changes. Neuropsychological rehabilitation is also often helpful in developmental disorders such as learning difficulties, autism spectrum, ADHD. The goals of rehabilitation can be, for example, restoring and maintaining the ability to work or study, or the ability to function as independently as possible in everyday life.
The starting points of rehabilitation are identifying changes in functional ability, practicing difficult activities, finding alternative ways of doing things and aids, and supporting adaptation and mood.
The methods used are guiding discussions, information sharing, and cognitive and functional exercises. Rehabilitation is carried out in cooperation with the client and, if necessary, his/her family and other close people. The duration of rehabilitation is determined by the client's situation and rehabilitation goals.
Rehabilitation is often carried out with a payment commitment from the municipality, health care, insurance company or Kela, in some cases also by paying yourself.
