What is neuropsychology?

Neuropsychology is one of the application fields of psychology that studies the effects of brain function disorders on a person's mental functioning, such as learning and behavior, and rehabilitates the changes caused by the disorders.

Brain function disorders can be caused by neurological diseases (cerebrovascular disorders, brain tumors and inflammations, brain degenerative diseases, etc.), head and neck injuries, developmental conditions, mental illnesses, severe lack of oxygen to the brain, intoxicants, poisonings and exposures, and some organic diseases.

A neuropsychologist is a psychologist who has trained as a specialist psychologist by acquiring both theoretical knowledge and practical work experience. A neuropsychologist specializes in the function, development and disorders of the nervous system.
